Barclays has appointed global communications consultancy Maxus
to handle its global media planning and buying accounts.

The Barclays / Maxus deal is for three years
and worth a total of around £300m ($462.8m)

A spokesperson from Barclays told
RBI:

“Barclays is pleased to confirm that Maxus has
been awarded a three year contract for our global media services
following a competitive and closely fought tender process. By
bringing our media buying into a single agency, we will
continue to strengthen the Barclays brand around the globe in the
most cost efficient way.”

Maxus won a pitch against Walker Media, Havas Media, and OMD.
Walker Media – part of the M&C Saatchi Group – worked on the
Barclays account since 2006.

According to Nielsen Media Research, Barclays spends £31m on
media in the UK annually, primarily for its main retail brand and
Barclaycard.
