Indian bank ICICI has launched a service in Odisha allowing taxes to be paid through its online channel and collected by the state government from branches.
ICICI is India’s largest private sector bank and this is the first scheme of its kind to be launched in the state.
Citizens can pay their taxes through ICICI’s online banking services or in any of the 79 branches across the state. Customers can use this system after first signing up through the Directorate of Treasury and Inspection.
The service is attempting to create an easier system for citizens and is available to everyone, whether or not they bank with ICICI.
Anirudh Kamani, general manager, ICICI Bank commented, "We are extremely pleased to partner with the state government to extend technology-based services for the people of Odisha.
"This initiative is in line with the ICICI Bank’s philosophy of ‘Khayaal Aapka’ wherein we put customer’s convenience first."
