GoBank, an online only subsidiary of Green Dot Bank, has announced it is now open to the mass US market.

The mobile-centric bank has been available in the US via invite-only since January 2013.

Steve Streit, founder and CEO of Green Dot Corporation, said: "Creating GoBank, the world’s first bank account designed to be used entirely from a mobile device, has been a labour of passion for everyone involved in the project.

"GoBank is a feat of technology that brings traditional bank accounts into the era of the app. We’re very proud of the product and are hopeful that consumers will be attracted to GoBank’s high tech/low price proposition."

Customer can sign up for a GoBank account directly from the iOS app.
