Getin Noble Bank has launched what it says is Poland’s first self-service branch in a shopping centre in Warsaw.

The Polish bank said the new branch, called Getin Point, is fully equipped for customers to open a new bank account, apply for and instantly receive a payment card, or apply for new banking products.

Krzysztof Rosi?ski, CEO of Getin Bank, said: "By opening the first self-service branch of Getin Bank we have yet again surprised with our innovative approach to banking.

"We will not give up traditional branches, but we will offer an alternative solution with functionalities that were only available before at branch counters".

Customers can use a video link at the self service branch to have a call centre consultant walk them through transactions.

A spokeswoman also said that for the first two months after the self-service branch opening, there will be two assistants present on site to help customers with any potential queries they might have but could not comment on longer term staffing.

"Development and popularisation of self-service technologies is a future trend.

"By introducing Getin Point, we offer our clients yet another solution that is unique in the market of financial services, and hence we fulfil the Getin UP promise made a year ago," Rosi?ski added.

The bank also plans to open Getin Points in the shopping centres in ?ód?, Katowice, Kraków, and Gda?sk during the first quarter of 2014.
