KBC Bank Ireland has signed with banking software firm Temenos to upgrade its online and mobile banking offerings.

KBC Ireland, one of the European subsidiaries of Belgian KBC Group, will be using Temenos’ T24 core banking platform.

Wim Verbraeken, KBC Group CIO, said: "Our purchase of Temenos’ products highlights our commitment to the Irish market.

"We want to offer a complete range of modern financial services, underpinned by a distinctive customer experience, and working with Temenos provides us with the opportunity to do that."

Temenos, operating out of Geneva with 58 offices worldwide, has already rolled out software products to 1,500 customers across 140 countries.

Jean-Michel Hilsenkopf, Temenos regional director for Europe, said: "We are delighted that KBC Bank Ireland has chosen Temenos as its core banking system provider.

In November 2013, KBC Ireland announced plans to double its branch network from five to ten branches and reported a 25% rise in customers since the launch of its new current account and other financial products and services.
