The net banking app of Erste Bank for the
Android operating system is ready for use and the lender has
launched a reward scheme for customers who sign up to test it.

Among users who sign up to test the new
android app, 18 chosen customers will be rewarded EUR200 ($264.34)
each – that will be credited directly to their accounts – to use
the app in detail for a month, report impressions on the blog,
exchange information with other users, and deliver suggestions for
improvement.

Erste’s net banking app will be available for
downloading free of charge from Google Play, the official Google
Android Store.

Erste already has an app for Apple and Windows
phone operating systems and, in total, the app has been downloaded
over 100,000 times already.

On the other hand, Erste has also revealed
results of a study conduced by the lender that shows more than
150,000 people in Austria do not even have bank accounts.

Peter Bosek, member of the management board at
Erste for retail and corporates, said though it is a widespread
notion that everyone has a bank account, “in reality, this is not
the case at all.”

Based on the findings of the study, Bosek said
the need of the hour is “responsible banking”, which was the
primary reason behind establishing the “Social Banking” division at
Erste.

The study also discusses the results of social
banking so far for the lender. “Our social banking is not just
charity. In the end, customers are able to stand on their own two
feet financially,” said Bosek.

Further projects by Erste are ready to go live
and are currently in the pilot phase, among which is a managed
account designed to allow customers to regain control of their
financial life and micro loans aiming to enable achieve social
improvement, Bosek informed.

As of 2011, Erste Group had over 17m customers, approximately
3,190 branches across Europe, and over 50,000 employees.
