Diebold, a US-based automated teller machines (ATMs) manufacturer, is deploying 2,100 Diebold 429 ATMs for Mumbai-based Bank of Baroda (BoB), which will allow BoB to extend its services towards India’s underbanked population.
The intelligent-powered ATMs by Diebold automatically switch between three possible power sources – solar panel, alternating current grid and internal battery. It comes with an integrated battery backup system and is designed to work in environments with inconsistent power availability.
The new ATMs security features include Europay, MasterCard and Visa (EMV) card readers, biometric technology and optional dual security cameras to curb card fraud and data security threats, while complying with the new National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) regulatory requirements.
BoB, which has 4,000 branches across India, is deploying at least one ATM at each branch.
BoB transaction banking general manager, PD Singh, said expanding the capabilities and breadth of their ATM fleet will improve access to banking services in both urban and rural areas.
"Diebold’s ATMs and services are helping us deliver convenient, reliable self-service banking experiences to more customers," Singh added.
