Commonwealth Bank of Australia (CBA) has
suffered a fresh outbreak of IT problems, with some customers
unable to withdraw cash from ATMs; debit card usage has also been
hit.

In June,
customers of CBA’s online subsidiary, NetBank were unable to
process account transfers and make bill payments.

CBA has suffered IT glitches since it
kicked off an A$1.1bn ($1,13bn) upgrade of its core banking
system.

In an upbeat presentation to analysts in
March, CBA said that its SAP for Banking platform would place it
three to five years ahead of other banks in its domestic
market.

The IT systems upgrade is on course to
cost almost double CBA’s original estimate of A$580m.

Last year, CBA was had to apologise to
customers after system and security upgrades at NetBank disrupted
its nationwide payment network.
