Backbase, an omnichannel banking solution provider in the Netherlands, has decided to open its Global Development Center (BDC) in Hyderabad, India.

The Engagement Banking platform provider’s new BDC in India will be its second facility worldwide.

It will use the facility to roll out end-to-end mobile and web development services on its platform and drive growth for global banks.

Backbase said that its new BDC will act as a hub for digital and technology talent and hire over 350 employees globally by mid-2021, in collaboration with the hub in Krakow, Poland.

It is being claimed that the Hyderabad facility will minimise the implementation processes and boost time-to-market for banks and financial institutions.

Backbase CEO Jouk Pleiter said: “This investment into extending our physical presence will allow us to better understand the changing needs of our customers around the world.

“This will also enable us to take the development of our Backbase Engagement Banking Platform even further while delivering the same consistent experience and best practices that our customers expect from us.”

Backbase SVP of global customer success Jeroen Brusker added: “Through the extension of our infrastructure and the growth of our partner ecosystem globally, the Hyderabad BDC is part of our commitment to building long-term relationships with our customers.

“By providing them uninterrupted remote access to high calibre talent and support, we are helping to unburden our customers, de-risking their business strategies and allowing them to focus on what they do best – driving profitability and revenue while providing innovative banking solutions.”

Earlier this month, Caixa Geral de Depósitos (CGD), Portugal’s largest bank, partnered with Backbase to accelerate its digital innovation and consumer engagement.
