Westpac has renewed its IT outsourcing
deal with IBM for a further five years.

The agreement extends a 10-year, $2.3bn
deal inked by the parties in 2000.

The deal covers the operation of Westpac’s
key infrastructure services, including data centre, mainframe,
midrange, storage, desktop, print and security

Westpac said the contract will assist in
delivering improved efficiencies through the implementation of new
technologies and the completion of its Strategic  Investment
Priorities programmes.

The new contract kicks in on 1 December
and according to Westpac, involves “little change in IT spending”
for the bank.
