Norwich & Peterborough Building Society (NPBS), a UK-based financial services provider, is set to replace its Gold Light bank account with Gold Start.

The Gold Light account, which was launched in January 2013, has a debit card that is free to use overseas. However, the new Gold Start account does not offer free usage of debit card overseas, reported This is Money.

Customers, who wish to use the free debit card usage service, must open a new Gold Classic account, where a user has to pay around £500 per month and must maintain a minimum balance of £5,000.

For the Gold Start account, users should maintain a minimum balance of £5,000 or five standing orders or direct debit transactions through the account every month.

Customers with the Gold Light account can continue to keep their fee-free overseas debit cards.
