U.S Bank has added location services to the U.S. Bank Mobile App, enabling its Visa credit and debit card holders use their phone location to verify whether their mobile devices and card are in the same location.

The bank said that the latest feature, available on both Android and Apple devices, will help minimise disruptions and mitigate fraudulent transactions. Moreover, customers will have the option to opt out of this feature.

The new feature can also be accessed by the bank’s small business cardholders.

U.S Bank president of the retail payment solutions division John Steward said: “During the holiday season, consumers frequently make large purchases outside of known locations when travelling, and the location services feature gives our customers more control of their card activity, both domestically and internationally.”

The opt-in location service adds to other features in the U.S Bank Mobile App including the ability to check balances, pay bills, deposit checks and wire money.
