Steward Bank has rolled out a suite of new Diaspora Banking products designed for Zimbabwe nationals residing, working or studying abroad.

As part of the Diaspora Banking product suite, Steward Bank is now offering savings account, current account, fixed deposit account, Ecocash$ave account, and Ecocash banking services.

The lender said that the Diaspora banking products will enable Zimbabweans outside the country to execute daily banking transactions from their Steward Bank account anywhere across the globe.

Diaspora customers can access their accounts using the online banking platform or their roaming Econet line. Furthermore, they can make RTGS payments, pay local bills, buy groceries and transfer money to local recipients.

Using EcoCash, account holders can directly pay to individuals and service providers if they have a registered Econet line that has been activated for roaming and EcoCash Banking Services.

According to the lender, the banking services enables customers, whose EcoCash wallet and Steward Bank Diaspora account are linked, access to the same EcoCash menu as those in Zimbabwe.

Steward Bank chief executive Kwanele Ngwenya said, "There’s a significant number of Zimbabweans outside the country remitting money to Zimbabwe on a regular basis and carrying out various transactions."

"As Steward Bank, we recognise the need to make it as convenient and easy as possible for those in the Diaspora to retain direct control of their finances and interests in Zimbabwe, regardless of where they are in the world."
