South Africa’s Standard Bank has extended its partnership with global customer engagement firm Salesforce to deliver enhanced digital experiences to its clients.

The move is in line with the bank’s strategy to become a platform-based business that offers positive digital banking services.

Salesforce will enable the bank to partner with vendors and service providers to create and offer customised solutions to its clients.

The company will also allow the clients to use the bank’s platform to create such solutions for themselves.

Salesforce president and chief revenue officer Gavin Patterson said: “With the Salesforce Customer 360 platform Standard Bank will be able to build a single source of truth across the entire customer journey and respond quickly to changing customer needs.”

The Johannesburg-based bank said it will team up with a network of partners to deliver its services and solutions, and support client lifecycle.

In addition to the collaboration with Salesforce, Standard Bank’s digital platform will be powered by the cloud capabilities of Microsoft and Amazon Web Services (AWS).

Standard Bank Group CEO Sim Tshabalala said: “Our extended agreement with Salesforce is a major step towards transforming the Standard Bank Group into a client-centred platform business that delivers a range of individualised, instantly available solutions, services and opportunities, enabled by modern digital technologies and delivered in whatever way a client prefers.

“In order to defend our markets and to grow new ones, we have to become a platform provider. And to do that, we have partnered with Salesforce, and also with, Microsoft and Amazon Web Services.”
