State Bank of India
(SBI) is to roll out a SMS-based complaint redressal system across
14 regions of India, following a successful pilot project in Andhra
Pradesh.

Dubbed ‘ SMS Unhappy’,
aggrieved SBI customers will be able to send a text message to SBI
registering their complaint.

SBI said that the Andhra
Pradesh trial resulted in 25,000 complains being received, of which
65% were solved in 48 hours, with another 15% of complaints
resolved within five days.

The majority of
complaints related to pension and ATM-related issues followed by
internet banking.

Andhra Bank and State
Bank of Hyderabad have launched similar types of SMS-complaint
services this year.
