Russian lender Sberbank has partnered with international payment system WebMoney Transfer to bolster its instant fund transfer ecosystem.

The partnership will enable the bank’s clients to make instant transfers from Sberbank cards to WebMoney wallet and vice versa.

The customers can transfer the money by providing only the recipient’s phone number associated with the wallet or card.

The service carries a 2.3% commission fee, to be paid by the sender. The beneficiary does not pay any fee.

Sberbank vice-president and director of the payments and transfers division Igor Manontov said: “Sberbank continues to develop its instant transfer ecosystem. The popularity of this service continues to grow, and we are committed to making it even more convenient by bringing new partners on board and adding to the list of available functions.

“Now transfers from Sberbank cards to WebMoney purses are as simple as transferring money from one Sberbank client to another – all you need to know is the recipient’s phone number.”

WebMoney Transfer director of development Pyotr Darakhvelidze said: “Money transfers that only require a telephone number is a convenient and understandable trend. We are pleased to join the biggest instant transfer system, which is offered by Sberbank.”

Sberbank also announced to start providing online services to mortgage borrowers.

Earlier, the mortgage borrowers could receive assistance and complete documentation process only at bank’s branches.
