Raiffeisen Bank Romania, a unit of Austria’s Raiffeisen Group, has chosen Backbase’s omnichannel banking platform to drive its digital transformation.

Raiffeisen Bank caters to over two million customers in Romania, of which 1.9 million are personal banking customers, 100,000 are SMEs and 5,600 are corporations.

The vendor said that its omnichannel platform will offer a seamless user experience for all types of customers, with the first deliverable being a mobile app for private individuals followed by web applications for retail and corporate customers.

Raiffeisen Bank vice president of operations and IT Bogdan Popa said: "Implementing Backbase's technology onto our platform will enable us to be more agile and adapt to the fast growing and shifting needs of our customers.

"Our customers are at the forefront of everything we do, so improving both our online and mobile platforms were essential in enhancing their banking experience and customer journey."
