Paragon Application Systems, a testing services provider for the financial services industry, has launched a simulator that will reduce the dependency on physical ATMs and manual processes in the testing environment.

The technology vendor said that the new simulator, dubbed VirtualATM, will help customers carry out automated testing of the software stack from anywhere across the globe, which will reduce costs, time and manpower.

VirtualATM simulates ATM hardware components producing various error conditions that cannot be recreated with ease at physical test machines.

Paragon said that the simulator facilitates the testing of all transactions and error conditions, both magnetic stripe and EMV chip cards.

In addition, the product offers effective visibility into the XFS layer and allows testing of every endpoint, helping to automatically report, execute, validate and report transactions without operator interaction, the technology vendor said.

Paragon CEO Jim Perry said: "In recent years, the interconnectivity of payments systems, channels and institutions has significantly increased operational risk, and the sheer volume of payments indicates that the corresponding risk is higher than in previous years.
