NewBridge Bank will reduce 5% of its total headcount during the second quarter of 2014, as part of its strategy to realign retail banking business and boost online and mobile-banking presence.

The bank said that the restructuring follows a recent comprehensive review of the business to meet the needs of new and existing retail clients, who are increasingly relying on digital channels, including mobile banking and payments to carry out their daily banking transactions.

Commenting on the plan, NewBridge Bank president and CEO Pressley Ridgill said, "Our goal is to improve the versatility of our sales team while providing clients with better technology and an improved suite of products."

The plan is to phase out the traditional branch staffing model of one manager surrounded by client service representatives with a simplified structure consisting entirely of client service managers.

"Traditional branch operations that do not impact clients will be centralized within the support areas of the Bank to free our retail banking professionals to focus exclusively on client engagement," Ridgill added.

The bank has also named Laura Bailey as senior vice president and retail sales manager. In her new role, Bailey, with over 15 years of sales and service experience, will oversee the integration of all marketing, sales and client support for the bank’s retail banking business.
