British challenger bank Mondo has rolled out an API that aims to allow its pilot customers to experiment with their own data.
According to Mondo co-founder and CTO Jonas Huckestein, the bank’s first set of developer tools will allow customers to quickly download and manipulate their personal financial data.
Huckestein said: "Anyone should be able to play with their own banking data, not just developers. We want to make it as easy as possible for anyone to access their data, export it or analyse it without any prior programming knowledge. We’re working on some integrations at the moment that should make this really quick and easy."
The bank also has future plans for the API, such as allowing developers to build applications that could request access to other customers’ information on an individual basis, he said, adding that the API is currently in the prototype stage.
"We want to make it as easy as possible for developers to build applications that leverage our customer’s banking data without compromising the safety of our users. We should have an update on this within the next 2-3 months so watch this space," Huckestein stated.
