UnionPay International and Georgia-based Liberty Bank have finalised an agreement under which all ATMs and POS terminals of the bank will accept UnionPay chip cards.

At the same time, UnionPay International has also joined forces with Liberty Bank to launch QuickPass contactless cards.

The enhanced contactless payment function will allow customers to pay at merchant locations simply by tapping cards on POS terminals.

The cards can be used at shops, restaurants, pharmacies, gas stations and other merchant locations and for ecommerce purchases.

UnionPay International president Shi WenChao said: "UnionPay International is expanding its footprint worldwide. I am glad we have a strong partner in Georgia offering full-fledged issuing and acquiring services of UnionPay International.
