Indonesia’s Bank Mandiri has expanded its network of ATMs by installing 3,375 new ATMs from Wincor Nixdorf from April to June 2015.

Bank Mandiri’s ATM network now comprises 17,000 systems which provide a service for topping up prepaid cards used to pay for toll charges in Indonesia, apart from facilitating cash withdrawal services.

The software used to top up the cards at the bank’s ATMs was developed by Wincor Nixdorf who will also be responsible for further development of the application.

The bank aims to move other services to the self-service channel for greater efficiency along with providing security solutions to protect customers against ATM fraud.

Bank Mandiri group head of electronic banking Rahmat Broto Triaji commented: "Bank Mandiri has opted once again for Wincor Nixdorf since the systems already installed have proven most reliable in operation. In addition, we can offer all the necessary services and functions on the systems.

"Examples include the e-toll offering or intelligent security solutions that protect our customers against various manipulation attempts on the ATM."
