India-based private sector lender, ICICI Bank, is reportedly planning to open up to 100 fully-automated ‘Touch Banking’ branches across 33 cities in the country.

The new branch will enable customers to deposit cash and cheques, withdraw money and get instant receipts, transfer funds, open fixed deposits, and generate bank statements round the clock.

Moreover, these branches also provide account related information using internet banking and video conferencing.

The bank said in a statement, "We have observed that an individual spends around 10 hours a day at work. It leaves very little time to do routine works including day-to-day banking."

"So, we felt the need to offer our customers an option of banking at their convenience and at any time of the day."

According to a report by the bank, approximately one lakh new customers executes transaction at these branches every month, while transactions at Touch Banking branches have doubled during the last six months to nearly 2 million in February 2014.
