Integrated payment solutions provider Harland Clarke and Mitek, a provider of mobile capture and identity verification software solutions, have jointly rolled out a new solution to strengthen mobile deposit security.

In order to boost security of checks deposited through the mobile channel, Harland Clarke has integrated the new Photo Safe Deposit features in its printed checks.

The features can be recognised only through computer vision incorporated in Mitek’s mobile deposit software, Harland Clarke said in a statement.

Checks are printed with the photo safe deposit icon, a camera-lock graphic, placed on the front.

After being detected by mobile devices through Mitek’s back-end software, the checks are scanned for features including Image Match and Mobile Mark introduced by Harland Clarke.

Harland Clarke said that Image Match matches the front and back side images of the check to ensure whether they are from the same document, which in turn, reduces endorsement forgery and depositor errors when photographing several checks in a single deposit.
