Swedish lender Handelsbanken has agreed to outsource all card personalisation processes to French technology company IDEMIA.
The move will provide Handelsbanken customers with access to IDEMIA’s card personalisation technology.
It will also include the provision of other online services such as customer on-boarding mobile identity to activate a card or secure customer authentication by tapping the card on the phone.
As agreed, IDEMIA will start converting Handelsbanken’s embossed cards leveraging latest ‘Lazer-Pro’ techniques. The company will also be responsible for the bank’s current and future card requirements.
IDEMIA Financial Institutions Service Line vice-president Alex Nolan said: “We’re thrilled Handelsbanken have selected us to take care of their card personalisation.
“We will bring them both our in-depth know-how in card manufacturing and personalisation as well as our digital services offering.”
Handelsbanken Development of Payments head Kajsa Bohr said: “We are pleased that IDEMIA has demonstrated that they can meet our high demands on quality and future proof services and we are looking forward to our cooperation.”
IDEMIA focuses on delivering identity related security services. It is active in several sectors including financial, telecom, identity and public security among others.
According to the company, it serves clients in 180 countries.
Earlier this year, IDEMIA partnered with Microsoft to support its new Microsoft Azure Active Directory (Azure AD) verifiable credentials identity solution.
The solution allows organisations to confirm information about individuals.
