Wells Fargo has instructed its employees to continue working from home until at least 30 June due to the Covid-19 pandemic, Reuters reported citing a memo sent out by the bank.

Currently, close to 200,000 out of 265,000 employees of the San Francisco-based bank are working from home.

The remaining employees working from bank branches or operations centres are still reporting to the offices regularly, the report added.

In the memo sent to employees, Wells Fargo COO Scott Powell said: “It is too early to say exactly when our operations will return to a more normal model.

“The bank’s operating committee decided this week on the tentative date.”

The bank already alerted its staff stating that its coronavirus-related policies might remain in place even after the government relaxes lockdown.
