Citibank UAE has teamed up with MasterCard to launch contactless payment technology for Citi MasterCard credit cards in the UAE.

Individuals can make contactless payments in the UAE at various merchant locations that have contactless terminals.

Making a contactless payment for small ticket items worth up to AED100 ($27.23) require a simple tap, while larger purchases require tap with PIN.

Users of a Citibank contactless credit card can accumulate miles/points if applicable, also for small amounts that they earlier paid with cash.

MasterCard Middle East and North Africa president Raghu Malhotra said: "Through this partnership with Citibank UAE, we will be working together to provide cardholders with a safe and secure payment solution and take steps forward in achieving our goal of becoming a world beyond cash."
