BT has announced the global launch of ‘BT Assure Ethical Hacking for Finance’, a new ethical hacking service designed to help financial services organisations test their cyber security.

More and more critical financial and personal information is being held digitally by financial institutions such as banks and insurance companies, making these financial organisations particularly susceptible to cyber attacks.

BT will use CREST certified Simulated Targeted Attack and Response (STAR) services to test an organisation’s security and response to a cyber attack. This service will draw on ethical hacking experience gained over the last two decades in the US when working closely with financial companies.

Assure Ethical Hacking for Finance will mimic these potential cyber attacks to find weak points either digitally or within the organisation’s digital infrastructure: from database dumps on social security and credit card numbers, to creating admin accounts by having an employee open an email; from mobile devices and hardware to human error.
