Backed by Sabadell, BPCE will start regulatory processes with Spanish and European supervisory authorities to secure the board appointment, subject to required clearances and corporate governance protocols.

BPCE CEO Nicolas Namias said:“BPCE’s investment in Sabadell is fully in line with its Vision 2030 strategic plan. It marks a further step in its ambition to develop and diversify its presence in Europe. It reflects our confidence in Sabadell’s management, strategy and long-term potential.”

The two lenders are examining commercial partnerships across equipment leasing, consumer lending, corporate and investment banking, and cross-border client services.

These discussions aim to provide BPCE’s capabilities to Sabadell’s customer base and create joint value.

The talks are expected to conclude in early 2027, focusing on measures to assist Sabadell’s domestic growth while widening BPCE’s European reach.

Banco Sabadell CEO Marc Armengolsaid: “This transaction strengthens our ability to continue executing our strategic plan and generating sustainable long-term value. The investment of BPCE brings us a partner with a long-term vision and extensive experience, which we believe can complement our capabilities and help us successfully seize the opportunities presented by the market.”
