French lender BNP Paribas has collaborated with Ingenico Group to assist e-merchants in bolstering their online sales in Europe by accepting both international and local methods of payment.

BNP Paribas, which is one of the leading e-commerce players in France, has a market share of approximately 30% of all e-commerce transactions.

Ingenico ePayments solution clubbed with BNP Paribas’ electronic payment solution will enable businesses in 14 European nations to accept online payments in eight different currencies.

The lender’s electronic payment platform is supported by the domestic platforms in France, Italy, and Germany, and a central platform covering 13 nations.

Ingenico said that the collaboration will improve the banks’ existing e-commerce offer while equipping clients with Ingenico’s ePayments’ fraud-detection tools that identify and prevent fraud attempts.

BNP Paribas head of innovative electronic payment solutions Jean-Marie Dragon said: "Through this partnership, BNP Paribas confirms the strategic nature of e-commerce and its determination to support its customers in two major challenges in this market: international growth and fraud management."
