American money manager BlackRock has hired Pablo Goldberg from HSBC to bolster its emerging market fixed income business in the US.

He has been appointed managing director, portfolio manager and senior strategist within the team.

In his new role, he will oversee the development of investment strategy and engaging with US clients.

Goldberg, who will be based in New York, will report to London-based Sergio Trigo Paz.

Prior to joining HSBC, he acted as chief economist for Latin America at Merrill Lynch & Co from 2000 to 2008.

BlackRock said that the new appointment demonstrated the group’s commitment to grow and invest in its emerging markets business.
