BBVA USA has become the presenting sponsor of the 2020 Iron Bowl football game between the University of Alabama and Auburn University.

The Iron Bowl, which first began in 1893 and has been held each year since 1948, features the University of Alabama Crimson Tide and the Auburn University Tigers football teams.

BBVA will have logo display and naming rights included under this sponsorship agreement.

The Iron Bowl is held every year in late November. This year’s game will be held at the Bryant-Denny Stadium, Tuscaloosa, Alabama, US.

Moreover, BBVA will also run a community initiative named the Virtual Iron Bowl, under this sponsorship deal.

This initiative will benefit the Children’s of Alabama hospital, and allow fans to attend the matchup on 28 November 2020.

Fans can visit the BBVA website to buy the event’s tickets starting at $1 and support their favourite team, starting from 9 November.

The money collected through these tickets will be donated to Children’s of Alabama, for general operations and patient care.

Additionally, three donors will be picked randomly on 25 November, who will participate in the actual game.

Children’s of Alabama community development coordinator Emily Bridges said: “We are thrilled to partner with BBVA on the Virtual Iron Bowl this year.

“The generosity from fans supporting this event will allow Children’s to continue providing the highest level of care to ill and injured children from across our state.”

BBVA USA East Region executive Lee Smith said: “The bank’s sponsorship of the 2020 Iron Bowl not only shows its dedication to the Alabama market and its traditions, but its commitment to creating opportunities for the communities in which it resides.

“That includes supporting organisations like Children’s of Alabama that provide crucial services to children in need.”
