BB&T is planning to slash 89 jobs at the former Susquehanna Bancshares headquarters in Lititz, Lancaster County in Pennsylvania.
BB&T comprises about 500 former Susquehanna employees in Lititz, out of 900 in Lancaster County.
The employees became part of BB&T following its acquisition of Susquehanna for $2.5bn.
The job cuts represent nearly 18% of BB&T’s workforce in the borough and about 10% of its workforce in Lancaster County.
BB&T said that it intends to retain all of Susquehanna’s high-performing, direct client-facing associates and revenue producers.
The layoffs will be effective from early November, with employees remaining through their 60-day notice period to receive a severance package.
BB&T further said that it will help affected employees find positions either inside or outside the company.
