British bank Barclays has started the roll out of Flux-powered digital receipt feature for its mobile banking app users.

The move will enable its customers receive digital receipts directly in the app after making in-store purchases at certain outlets using Barclays debit card.

The service will be available for purchases made at H&M, shoe retailer schuh and food outlets, which include Just Eat and Papa Johns.

Subsequently, the users can view the receipts by tapping on the transaction.

Notably, the move follows several months of trials that involved testing the service.

Founded in 2016, Flux is a digital receipts and rewards platform that integrates merchants with banks enabling participating retailers provide paperless e-receipts to the customers.

Barclays and Flux first announced their association in 2017. Last year, the British bank picked a minority stake in Flux.

Barclays digital & platforms global head Ruchir Rodrigues said: “The pandemic has shown an increasing desire among consumers for the safety and security offered by a low-touch environment which digital receipts, along with other solutions such as contactless payments, enable.

“The introduction of the digital receipts feature in the Barclays app gives customers a way to conveniently get an itemised receipt of their purchase straight into their app, offering them greater control and ease when managing their money.”
