Finnish fintech Bankify has partnered with payments provider Nets enabling its customers to access Nets’ open banking platform.

Through the partnership, Nets customers will also have access to Bankify’s portfolio of microservices via the platform.

Georg Olav Ramstad, head of open banking sales and business development, Nets, said: “Bankify is an expert in keeping up with the demands of digital customers. Together, our combined offerings will accelerate the digital transformation of financial institutions. We are really looking forward to an exciting partnership with Bankify.”

The Open Banking Access from Nets provides PSD2-enabled account access to banks with a single-point-of-integration. In addition, with the solution, third parties can connect once and then refocus on delivering business value.

Antti Tarakkamäki, co-founder at Bankify, said: “With the Open Banking Access from Nets we can connect our offerings via a single integration, providing our customers access to multiple banks in the Nordics. This makes our microservice offering even more relevant, easier to implement, faster and more cost-efficient for our customers.”

Payments strategy

When creating its services, Bankify targets the needs of digital native customers. Bankify focuses on customer-centric use-cases using gamification, education, personalisation and social interaction.

To date, Bankify has launched eight microservices, each using an open API connection to improve user experience. Furthermore, the services aim to enable a variety of new use-cases, including social finances, gamified savings and group payments combined with a virtual card solution.

Earlier this month, payments group Nets acquired Finnish firm Poplatek and its spin-off company Poplapay to accelerate payment terminal service capabilities.

With the acquisition, Nets hoped to improve its ability to offer payment acceptance solutions to European merchants.

In December 2019, Nets also started a pilot programme to test facial recognition technology for payments. The programme trialled 1,000 employees at the Vibenshuset office complex in Copenhagen.
