According to Backbase, the transaction is part of its plan to build what it calls the Unified Frontline, “one operating model where customers, employees, and AI agents operate as one with shared context, governed authority, and the same source of customer truth”.

The company said adding Kasisto to the core of its AI-native Banking OS would help banks address customer requests via “intelligent execution”.

Kasisto CEO Lance Berks said: ”Agentic AI will reshape banking over the next decade. Together, Backbase and Kasisto represent the convergence of the AI-native banking OS and purpose-built agentic AI and financial services intelligence, setting a new standard for how banks and financial institutions compete and win.”

Kasisto’s system is based on a newer form of AI designed to interpret context, make decisions and function within banking governance and compliance rules.

Used with the Banking OS, the technology is intended to let banks deploy AI agents that manage the process from a customer request to a controlled outcome across digital banking channels including chat, messaging and voice.

The company also said Kasisto’s conversational and agent-based AI tools can support tasks such as gathering evidence, checking eligibility, applying policy, starting workflows and completing customer requests from beginning to end.

The deal brings together AI capabilities, customer operations in North America and specialist teams within one business.

The combined agentic banking suite is available immediately through the Banking OS for existing and prospective customers.

Backbase CEO and founder Jouk Pleiter said:  “This acquisition sharpens our position as the strategic partner for banks serious about AI transformation. Kasisto brings proven agentic AI and deep financial services intelligence – moving us decisively into the era where customers express intent naturally and the bank resolves it through governed, intelligent execution. With Kasisto inside the Banking OS, no one is better positioned to lead the shift from conversation to resolution.”
