Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in South & Central America with a share of 53.94% in October 2021, an 11.65% drop over the previous month. Computer and Information Analysts came in next, claiming a share of 25.19% in October 2021, marking a 6.86% month-on-month decline. In the third place was Miscellaneous Computer Occupations with a share of 12.98% in October 2021, an 18.31% rise from September 2021.

Top five banking and payments companies in South & Central America’s IT recruitment activity in October 2021
The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average decline of 1.58% in the overall IT recruitment activity of South & Central America’s banking and payments industry during October 2021 over previous month.
Banco Santander posted 199 IT jobs in October 2021 and registered a decline of 18.78% over the previous month, followed by Banco de Credito e Inversiones with 120 jobs and a 14.29% growth. Citigroup with 74 IT jobs and Fiserv with 23 jobs, recorded a 27.59% rise and a 14.81% drop, respectively, while AIA Group recorded a 171.43% increase with 19 job postings during October 2021.
Country-wise composition of IT hiring in South & Central America’s banking and payments industry
Brazil commanded a leading presence in the region’s banking and payments industry IT hiring activity with a 43.43% share in October 2021, a 16.12% decrease over September 2021. Chile featured next with a 22.26% share, up 20% over the previous month. Peru recorded a 9.27% share, a drop of 6.25% compared with September 2021.
Junior Level job postings dominate in October 2021
Junior Level jobs held a share of 76.2%, down by 13.66% from September 2021. Mid Level positions with a 12.98% share, registered a growth of 52.73% compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Senior job ads with 7.11% share, up 15% over September 2021, while Entry Level postings accounted for 3.71%, recording a month-on-month decline of 35.14%.
