Singapore’s banking and payments industry registered a 1.1% rise in IT hiring activity in September 2021 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics database.

The industry’s overall hiring increased by 0.36% in September 2021 when compared with August 2021.

Out of the banking and payments industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed a 22.34% share in September 2021, recording a decrease of 0.7% over the last three-month average share.

1) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers recorded a share of 61.93% in September 2021, registering an 8.4% decline over the previous month.

2) Miscellaneous Computer Occupations claimed a 19.89% share, a decrease of 11.02% over the previous month.

3) Database and Network Administrators and Architects held a share of 11.17%, registering an 11.94% decline from August 2021.

4) Computer and Information Analysts captured a share of 5.68%, down 38.78% over the previous month.

Top five banking and payments companies in Singapore’s IT recruitment activity in September 2021

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average decline of 3.53% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of Singapore’s banking and payments industry during September 2021 over August 2021.

DBS Group Holdings posted 131 IT jobs in September 2021 and registered a rise of 48.86% over the previous month, followed by Temasek Holdings (Private) with 93 jobs and a 27.34% drop. Citigroup with 57 IT jobs and Oversea-Chinese Banking with 37 jobs, recorded a 31.33% decline and a 131.25% flat growth, respectively, while Standard Chartered recorded a decline of 30.19% with 37 job postings during September 2021.

Junior Level job postings dominate in September 2021

Junior Level jobs held a share of 45.45%, down by 3.61% from August 2021. Mid Level positions with a 30.49% share, registered a decline of 32.35% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Senior job ads with 15.91% share, up 42.37% over August 2021, while Entry Level postings accounted for 8.14%, recording a month-on-month decline of 25.86%.
