September 2021 has seen a decrease of 2.45% in the overall hiring activity when compared with August 2021.

IT jobs accounted for a 17.13% share in the industry’s total hiring activity in September 2021, registering a decrease of 0.21% over the last three-month average share.

Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations leads by classification in September 2021

Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in Europe with a share of 59.02% in September 2021, a 16.89% drop over the previous month. Miscellaneous Computer Occupations came in next, claiming a share of 18.21% in September 2021, marking a 6.22% month-on-month decline. In the third place was Database and Network Administrators and Architects with a share of 12.81% in September 2021, a 17.6% drop from August 2021.

Top five banking and payments companies in Europe’s IT recruitment activity in September 2021

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average decline of 27.1% in the overall IT recruitment activity of Europe’s banking and payments industry during September 2021 over previous month.

Banco Santander posted 530 IT jobs in September 2021 and registered a decline of 26.39% over the previous month, followed by Citigroup with 292 jobs and a 19.11% drop. KBC Group with 240 IT jobs and Barclays with 170 jobs, recorded a 54.72% drop and a 36% rise, respectively, while JPMorgan Chase recorded an 8.74% decline with 167 job postings during September 2021.

Country-wise composition of IT hiring in Europe’s banking and payments industry

The UK commanded a leading presence in the region’s banking and payments industry IT hiring activity with a 29.56% share in September 2021, a 10.12% decrease over August 2021. Poland featured next with a 17.76% share, down 16.77% over the previous month. Germany recorded a 7.07% share, a drop of 19.27% compared with August 2021.

Junior Level job postings dominate in September 2021

Junior Level jobs held a share of 71.32%, down by 16.91% from August 2021. Mid Level positions with a 17.03% share, registered a decline of 10.32% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Entry Level job ads with 9.69% share, down 17.32% over August 2021, while Senior postings accounted for 1.96%, recording a month-on-month decline of 24.56%.
