Spain-based company Banco Santander’s IT hiring declined 7.2% in October 2021 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics database.

The company’s overall hiring activity increased by 20.85% in October 2021 when compared with September 2021.

IT jobs claimed a 9.1% share in the company’s total hiring activity in October 2021, and recorded a 2.56% decline over the last three-month average share.

Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers tops Banco Santander IT hiring in October 2021

Out of the total IT job titles posted by Banco Santander, Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers emerged as the leading occupation, recording a share of 39.93% in October 2021, and an 18.31% drop over September 2021, while Computer and Information Analysts claimed a share of 27.56% in October 2021, and registered growth of 4%. Database and Network Administrators and Architects held a share of 16.96% in October 2021, an 8.27% rise from September 2021.

Europe drives IT hiring at Banco Santander

Europe emerged as the leading region in the global banking and payments IT hiring activity in October 2021 with a 61.13% share, which marked a 9.58% drop over the previous month.

South & Central America stood next with 23.44%, registering an 18.78% month-on-month decline. North America was the third leading region with an 8.24% share and a 2.94% rise over September 2021.

In the fourth place was Asia-Pacific with a share of 6.24% and a month-on-month decline of 19.7%. Mexico City stood at the bottom of the table with a share of 0.94%, registering a 46.67% drop over the previous month.

Poland commanded a leading presence in the region’s banking and payments industry IT hiring activity with a 37.69% share in October 2021, a 13.51% decline over September 2021. Brazil featured next with a 22.85% share, down 19.83% over the previous month. The UK recorded a 10.84% share, an increase of 206.67% compared with September 2021.

Junior Level jobs lead Banco Santander IT hiring activity in October 2021

Junior Level jobs held a share of 84.81%, down by 13.98% from September 2021. Mid Level positions with an 8.01% share, a decline of 15% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Entry Level job ads with 7.07% share, up 17.65% over September 2021, while Senior postings accounted for 0.12%, recording a month-on-month flat growth.
