The industry’s overall hiring increased by 4.95% in November 2021 when compared with October 2021.

Out of the banking and payments industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed a 17.01% share in November 2021, recording an increase of 0.5% over the last three-month average share.

1) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers recorded a share of 44.92% in November 2021, registering a 6.93% decline over the previous month.

2) Miscellaneous Computer Occupations claimed a 29.81% share, an increase of 31.18% over the previous month.

3) Database and Network Administrators and Architects held a share of 13.24%, registering a 3.88% decline from October 2021.

4) Computer and Information Analysts captured a share of 6.02%, up 2.27% over the previous month.

Top five banking and payments companies in Australia’s IT recruitment activity in November 2021

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average growth of 10.25% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of Australia’s banking and payments industry during November 2021 over October 2021.

Commonwealth Bank of Australia posted 160 IT jobs in November 2021 and registered a rise of 19.4% over the previous month, followed by Temasek Holdings (Private) with 62 jobs and a 37.78% growth. Macquarie Group with 61 IT jobs and Citigroup with 58 jobs, recorded a 4.69% decline and a 61.11% growth, respectively, while Australia and New Zealand Banking Group recorded a decline of 30.49% with 57 job postings during November 2021.

Junior Level job postings dominate in November 2021

Junior Level jobs held a share of 67.91%, down by 10.56% from October 2021. Mid Level positions with a 26.07% share, registered an increase of 58.54% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Entry Level job ads with 4.28% share, up 23.08% over October 2021, while Senior postings accounted for 1.74%, recording a month-on-month increase of 225%.
