Poland’s Alior Bank has successfully targeted the most tech-savvy segment of the market with an app dubbed HAIZ. Alior’s successful HAIZ initiative was a deserved recipient of the award for best service innovation at RBI’s annual global awards, sponsored by Fiserv reports Douglas Blakey

Alior has enhanced its reputation for innovation with the success of its HAIZ app.

That success now includes picking up the award from RBI for best service innovation at the annual RBI global awards.

The app was designed to support communication between its users and give them full access to services of the bank’s partners on preferential conditions.

Says Alior, HAIZ is not merely another banking app.

HAIZ is rather a communicator for its users backed by financial services. During a single virtual conversation, users can check their account balance, make fast P2P money transfers or top-up phones by simply typing the amount into a chat window.

The app is also equipped with a Host Card Emulation (HCE) payments module for those who don’t want to use their traditional bank card any longer – it enables users to carry out every transaction with only their smartphone.

A current account feature is available to all customers regardless of their age with an option for parents to share their account with their children, without minimum age limit.

Children also have access to their own personal account via the app which is tailored to the age and preferences of “Generation Z”, providing simple language and gamification features.

For example, they can win special badges for specific “achievements”, such as their first P2P transfer or completed HCE transaction. In case of any security problems, such as the loss of the card, parents can block the child’s HAIZ account or card through the app in seconds.

The main goal of HAIZ is to help people to create communities.

The development of HAIZ began in the third quarter of 2015 and was ready to go live in September 2016.

Successful fintech/bank partnership  – Alior and One Way – brings HAIZ to life

Alior worked with fintech vendor One Way on the project, an exclusive partnership agreement between the two institutions. The fintech company developed the application and the bank delivered financial solutions and infrastructure necessary to execute the banking operations.

HAIZ is a leading example of how a fintech and a bank can build a mutually beneficial partnership.

Future plans include Alior expanding its partners’ offers via the app, to make HAIZ a comprehensive e-commerce platform. Says Alior, the aim is to make HAIZ the best, regular rewards op in global banking.

Alior will also launch a group chat feature that will allow fundraising and cost-sharing between several people and is also launching Zuza, a mobile artificial intelligence assistant that will automatically answer client’s enquiries submitted from the app.
