The value marked an increase of 10.7% over the previous month and a drop of 69.7% when compared with the last 12-month average of $11.55bn.

The US held a 25.9% share of the global financial services industry M&A deal value that totalled $13.52bn in July 2019.

In terms of deal activity, the US recorded 74 deals during July 2019, marking a decrease of 5.1% over the previous month and a flat growth over the 12-month average.

The combined value of the top five financial services M&A deals stood at $3.21bn, against the overall value of $3.5bn recorded for the month.

The top five financial services industry deals of July 2019 tracked by GlobalData were:

1) The Charles Schwab’s $1.8bn asset transaction with United Services Automobile Association

2) The $485m acquisition of Sandler O’Neill and Partners by Piper Jaffray Companies

3) Jade Mountain Partners’s $384.25m acquisition of White Eagle Asset Portfolio

4) The $325m acquisition of Digital Bridge Holdings by Colony Capital

5) Markel’s acquisition of The Hagerty Group for $212.5m.
