Swedish lender Handelsbanken has posted a 12% increase in full
year net profit to SEK12.3bn ($1.84bn).
Net interest income increased by 11% for the 12 months to 31
December to SEK23.6bn.
Handelsbanken’s total assets increased by 14% in 2011 to
SEK2.45trn. The bank’s cost to income ratio improved year-on-year
by 90 basis points percentage points to 47.1% (2010: 48%).
The branch network for Handelsbanken increased by a net of 23
branches to 746 by the end of the year, with branch numbers growing
fastest in the UK – branch numbers in the UK
increased from 83 to 104.
Handelsbanken has branches across 22 countries, with Sweden,
Denmark, Finland, Norway and UK its largest markets.
