Tesco Bank is planning to add around 300 new jobs in Scotland, as part of its preparation for the launch of a new current account in 2014 and to become a full service bank.
The new jobs, which will be at Tesco’s offices at South Gyle in Edinburgh and Glasgow’s Renfield Street, will increase the lender’s staff count to 650 within two years.
The new permanent positions with the majority being full time, will form part of a new team responsible for serving current account customers.
Under the plan, Tesco has already started to recruit for 240 customer service positions and plans to create another 58 head office posts for commercial, legal, risk and marketing sectors.
Tesco Bank CEO, Benny Higgins, said since 2008, they have invested heavily to build a bank for Tesco customers and they now have more than 6.8 million accounts.
"We are making excellent progress towards the launch of our current account next year and the recruitment of these new roles is an important milestone in that process," Higgins added.
