Dubai-based lender Mashreq has incorporated generative AI capabilities into its fraud platform in partnership with Clari5 – A Perfios Company.
Senior executives from both entities unveiled the system at Mashreq’s Innovation Hub in Dubai.

The software was developed through ongoing joint work between the bank and Clari5 to upgrade Mashreq’s fraud detection platform.
Operationally, the technology is deployed to support, rather than replace, the professional judgement and domain expertise of internal fraud teams.
Clari5 co-founder and CEO Rivi Varghese said: “Banks don’t need AI that acts on its own. They need AI they can govern by their own rules. Clari5 has shown how AI can operate on-premises inside a bank’s own environment, grounded in the bank’s context, and remain auditable, explainable and under human control.”
The deployment focuses on three primary functions: accelerating analyst productivity, strengthening decision-making during investigations, and increasing the effectiveness of fraud detection.
By enabling quicker, more uniform, and more accurate threat identification, the system is designed to maintain a seamless customer experience.

Last month, Mashreq entered Pakistan’s commercial banking market with the rollout of NEO BIZ, a digital proposition tailored to small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), sole proprietors, and self-employed individuals.
The service draws on the Dubai-based lender’s cross-border banking operations to shift administrative financial tasks online.
In its initial deployment, NEO BIZ consolidates business accounts, payment processing, collections, and ancillary merchant services into a unified portal.
