BNP Paribas (BNPP) has launched Hello Bank, an internet based bank.

Hello Bank is currently available in Belgium and Germany, followed by France and Italy later in the year.

Geared towards new social habits, the digital only bank is to be aimed at those who "live the mobile experience". BNPP describes Hello Bank as "simple, smart, human and safe".

The bank expects to attract 1.4m customers in five years.

Customers can contact the bank via phone if they choose to.

François Villeroy de Galhau, BNP Paribas Group COO said: "Hello bank offers a fresh approach to banking aimed at all those who live the mobile experience. We’re set to launch in four major European markets – first in Belgium and Germany, then in France and Italy. Our apps are designed to provide a customer experience in line with the very best digital providers. Hello bank is simple, smart, human and safe."
