HSBC has agreed to sell its banking operations in Costa Rica, El Salvador and Honduras for $801m to Banco Davivienda, a Colombian-listed banking group.

The decision follows previous deals by the bank to sell operations around the world.

Earlier in 2012 HSBC sold off its retail banking arm in Pakistan to JS Bank.

In 2011 HSBC announced plans to withdraw their retail banking operations from Chile, Georgia, Kuwait and Russian markets.

Necessary regulations and approvals have been completed on the deal.

HSBC said it is still committed to its Latin American business, which is now focused principally on Argentina, Brazil and Mexico.
