British challenger bank Revolut is set to establish a new tech hub this October in the German capital of Berlin.

Located in Friedrichstraße, the development is expected to result in the creation of around 80 new jobs.

Among the new hires will be software engineers, data scientists, product managers, as well as marketing experts.

Revolut already has a customer base of nearly 15,000 in Germany. Through the new hub, the firm aims to localise its offerings for Germany and broader Europe.

Plans are on to recruit a local marketing and communications team for the initiative.

Revolut co-founder and CTO Vlad Yatsenko said: “There is an incredible amount of technical talent in Berlin, as we begin to scale our operations globally and expand our range of services, finding this kind of talent will be essential.

Revolut has recently been on an expansion drive.

Last month, the firm launched operations in Australia and chose Melbourne as the local base. Besides, the firm unveiled plans to recruit 30 people for the business.

At the end of last year, the firm secured the go-ahead to expand into Singapore and Japan.
