TD Bank Group has become the official sponsor and banking partner of Toronto-based Overwatch esports team Toronto Defiant.

The Defiant team participates in the league of the team-based multiplayer first-person shooter (FPS) arcade game Overwatch.

Toronto Defiant is the first esports organization to be sponsored by TD Bank.

Toronto Defiant, a member of the Overwatch league’s Atlantic North division, is the subsidiary of the OverActive Media group.

OverActive VP of global partnerships Tyler Keenan said: “Adding a national brand and globally-recognized institution like TD as a sponsor is a game-changer for our organization.

“TD has a reputation for helping to support the growth of diverse communities across our country, and it is very empowering to us that they are taking on sponsorship of this nature and entirely dedicated to our Defiant fans.”
